If something is wrong

1-year hardware warranty.
We inspect, then we decide.

Manufacturing defects for 12 months from delivery. You pay to send it back. We inspect, then repair, replace, or refund if the claim is a real fault. Layer lines on a printed case are not a fault.

1. Who this warranty covers

12 months from delivery, for the original buyer.

Every FlightAbove hardware device is covered by a limited 1-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. This page explains what that warranty covers, how to make a claim, who pays for return shipping, and when a claim may be refused after inspection.

This limited warranty is given by LLS Creations Ltd trading as FlightAbove (company number 17491307), whose registered office is 66 Paul Street, London, England, EC2A 4NA, United Kingdom. It is governed by the laws of England and Wales. It is in addition to, and does not replace or reduce, your statutory rights as a consumer.

Original purchaser

This warranty applies to the original purchaser of a FlightAbove hardware product bought from flightabove.io or another authorised FlightAbove sales channel. It is not transferable to a later owner unless we agree otherwise in writing.

Warranty period

The warranty period is 12 months from the date of delivery to the original delivery address. Proof of purchase and the original order number are required for every claim.

FROM DELIVERY 12 months

2. What is covered

Manufacturing defects that stop it working as described.

The warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship that prevent the device from working as described at the time of sale. Typical examples include a device that will not power on, a display that fails in normal use, or a hardware fault that appears without misuse.

Mini, Horizon and Altitude

The complete unit we built and shipped, including the display assembly and the electronics inside it.

Connect

The Raspberry Pi unit we ship with FlightAbove pre-installed, including the 3D printed case and any accessories we included in the box. Your own screen, HDMI cable, power supply, or other peripherals are not covered. The box includes a power cable. You need your own USB or USB-C power supply, capable of 5.1V at 2.5 amps.

Cloud is not hardware

FlightAbove Cloud is a software subscription. It is not hardware and is not covered by this warranty. Cloud billing, cancellation, and access are set out in the Terms of Service.

3. If a claim is accepted

Repair, replace, or refund. We choose which.

If, after inspection, we accept that the device has a covered manufacturing defect, FlightAbove will, at its discretion, do one of the following.

build

Repair

Repair the device and return it to you.

REPAIR
swap_horiz

Replace

Replace it with the same model, or a reasonably equivalent model if the original is no longer available.

REPLACE
payments

Refund

Refund the original product price paid, in whole or in part, to the original payment method.

REFUND

The clock does not restart

We decide which remedy is appropriate. A repair or replacement does not restart the original 12-month warranty period, except where the law requires otherwise. Any remaining warranty time continues from the original delivery date.

What we will not pay

We will not pay for your time, inconvenience, data loss, or any other indirect or consequential loss arising from a hardware fault, except where we are not allowed to exclude that liability by law.

4. How to make a claim

Email first. Do not post the device yet.

Do not send a device back until we have confirmed the claim in writing and given you a return address. Unsolicited returns may be refused.

What to send

Email [email protected] with:

  • Your order number and the date you received the device.
  • The product: Mini, Altitude, Horizon, or Connect.
  • A clear description of the fault, when it started, and what you have already tried.
  • Photos or a short video that show the issue, the serial or order markings if visible, and the overall condition of the unit.

We may ask follow-up questions or request extra photos before we authorise a return. That helps us tell a manufacturing defect from setup, WiFi, or configuration issues that can be fixed without shipping the unit.

5. Return shipping

Warranty postage is at your expense.

You pay inbound

The cost of getting it to us

For warranty claims, you are responsible for the cost of returning the device to us. That includes postage, packing, insurance, and any customs or import charges that arise on the way back to the United Kingdom.

We recommend a tracked and insured service. Until the parcel is signed for at our address, the device remains your responsibility. We cannot accept a claim for a unit that is lost or damaged on the way back to us if it was not adequately packed or insured.

We pay the way back if we accept it

If we accept the claim after inspection, we will cover the cost of sending a repaired or replacement unit back to you using a standard tracked service. We will not refund the inbound shipping you paid to return the original unit, unless the law requires us to do so in that specific case (for example certain statutory rights claims in the UK or EU).

Change-of-mind returns are a separate process and are explained on the Returns and delivery page.

Pack it as it arrived

Use the original packaging if you still have it. If not, pack the device so it cannot move, with protection on all sides. Include every part we shipped. A unit damaged because it was poorly packed may be treated as transit damage, not a manufacturing defect.

6. Inspection

Posting it is not an acceptance of the claim.

What we check

Every returned device is inspected before a decision is made. Inspection may include visual checks, power-on testing, software diagnostics, and a review of physical condition: case, screen, ports, fasteners, and signs of opening or modification.

How long

We will normally complete inspection within a reasonable time after the unit arrives, typically within 14 days, and we will email you the outcome. We may need longer if parts have to be sourced or if we need more information from you.

TYPICALLY 14 days

Nothing is promised yet

Until inspection is finished, no repair, replacement, or refund is promised. Opening a claim and posting the device is not an acceptance of the claim.

7. When a claim will be denied

Damage, modification, and expected print texture are not defects.

After inspection, we will deny a warranty claim if we reasonably conclude that the fault is not a manufacturing defect, or that the device has been damaged, altered, or used outside normal conditions. Examples include, without limitation:

  • Cracked, shattered, or impact-damaged screens and cases.
  • Liquid, moisture, or corrosion damage.
  • Bent, broken, or forced connectors, ports, or buttons.
  • Signs that the unit has been opened, repaired, or modified by anyone other than FlightAbove.
  • Use with an incorrect power supply, voltage, or poorly regulated USB source.
  • Physical abuse, dropping, crushing, or storage in excessive heat, cold, or humidity.
  • Normal wear and tear, cosmetic marks, or ageing that does not stop the device working.
  • The expected surface of a 3D printed PLA+ or PETG case, including visible layer lines and minor colour variation between batches.
  • Faults caused by your own screen, cables, WiFi, power, or other third-party hardware (especially on Connect and Cloud).
  • Software, account, configuration, or network issues that are not caused by a hardware defect.
  • Claims made after the 12-month warranty period, or without proof of purchase.
  • Devices bought from unauthorised sellers, or that we cannot verify as genuine FlightAbove hardware.

If a claim is denied, we will tell you why. We are not obliged to repair or replace a denied unit under this warranty. If you want the device returned, you must pay the return shipping within 30 days of our decision. If you do not arrange return within that time, we may dispose of the unit without further liability.

Before you post it

Damage is not a manufacturing defect

A unit that arrives back cracked, liquid-stained, opened, or otherwise damaged will usually have its warranty claim refused. Inspect it before you post it, and photograph it packed, so there is a record of its condition.

8. What this warranty does not cover

Coverage, software, and your own screen sit outside it.

In addition to the denial reasons above, this limited warranty does not cover:

Live information from upstream providers. That includes aircraft locations, aircraft photos, routes, weather, and maps. A missing flight, a blank or wrong photo, a missing or wrong route, weather that does not load or does not match the sky outside, or a map that fails to draw, is not a manufacturing defect and is not a warranty claim. Those feeds are supplied by other companies. Business API arrangements with them do not make the data guaranteed. Buying a device is acceptance of that limit. The full condition is section 6 of the Terms of Service.

Features we add, change, or retire in software updates.

Your own HDMI screen, tablet, monitor, or smart TV used with Connect or Cloud.

Installation, mounting, or furniture damage.

The expected texture of a 3D printed Mini, Altitude or Connect case. Layer lines are how FDM printing looks, not a manufacturing defect. Read the Quality and finish page before you order.

Commercial downtime or any use of the device as a critical safety or navigation instrument. FlightAbove is a consumer display, not certified avionics.

9. International customers

Customs both ways are yours

If you are returning a device from outside the United Kingdom, you are responsible for export paperwork, customs, duties, and taxes in both directions unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing. Mark the parcel accurately. We cannot under-declare value or describe a warranty return as a gift.

Local consumer laws may give you extra rights that this page cannot take away. Where those laws apply and cannot be excluded, they take priority over any conflicting sentence here.

10. Your statutory rights

This warranty sits beside the law

If you are a consumer, you have legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (UK) and, where applicable, equivalent laws in your country. In short, goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. Those rights exist alongside this warranty and are not affected by it.

This limited warranty is a contractual promise from FlightAbove about manufacturing defects for 12 months. It does not limit any claim you are entitled to bring under statute. Nothing on this page excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.

11. Relationship with returns

14 days is a different process

The 14-day change-of-mind cancellation right (UK and EU consumers) is separate from this warranty. That process, including unused condition and return shipping, is set out in the Returns and delivery policy.

If a device arrives damaged in outbound transit, contact us immediately with photos of the parcel and the device. Transit damage on delivery is handled as a delivery issue first, not as a later warranty claim.
