Altitude is the round one in the middle of the desk. Horizon carries the same sky on a 7 inch widescreen, and adds Horizon View: the photo and the route on one side, the aircraft in range on the other. It has a speaker. FlightLog sits in your dashboard.

Who it is for
The wide picture. Callsign, type, photo, route, and the other aircraft in range. Hold the flight you are waiting for.
The one they can read from the sofa. Paid once, produced in the United Kingdom. They pick the face later.
The plane goes over and the name is already there. A sound if you want the nudge. A clock when the sky is quiet.
What it looks like
Switch whenever you like. The board look is included. Live air traffic audio is a separate option, on every FlightAbove. UK airports are left out of that audio, because of dated UK law.
On Horizon
Live
Only on Horizon. A photo of the type, the route, a one-line story of the flight, and the ten closest aircraft with their distance.
A sweep of every contact nearby. Lock one and its route, altitude, speed and heading stay beside it.
The route drawn on a map, with the airline, the registration, the type, the height and how far it is from you.
A world map with day and night, the International Space Station, and your sunrise and sunset under the time.
The departure-board look, holding one flight until it is down. Nearby aircraft stay off that screen.
An air ambulance, a squawk, a military pass, or a tail on your list. The wide screen makes the card easy to read.
Pixel Billboard
The wide screen fits the whole scene. The billboard names the aircraft in range, such as easyJet EZY648L from London to Belfast.
See every scene
Radar visual
Swap the sweep for a photograph of the locked aircraft. Route, height, speed and heading stay on the screen.

Press and hold, or double-tap. Swipe left or right to change the face without opening the menu.
Drag volume on the first screen. Each alert can have its own sound.
Faces, Flights, Alerts and Device stay in a list, with the range and how many alerts are on.
Up to three followed flights can sit along the bottom, with the route and the time left. Tap the bar to open the tracker.
From the box
No app to install. Press and hold the screen to change the look, or use the dashboard in any browser. If the WiFi drops, Horizon keeps the last picture and joins again on its own.

The facts
The sky, not the postcode
Horizon shows aircraft that are sharing their position. That is most places in the world, and it is fullest over Europe and North America. The display is produced in the United Kingdom. The sky is not limited to the UK.

This "FlightAbove Mini" is very good. Rather than have to look up a well known flight tracker app on my Mobile Phone every time, this sits beside my chair and is on 12 hours a day. I got stuck with the initial setup but Customer Service were excellent and understanding. They gave me all the help I needed. At 4 inches the screen is small making some text hard to read. There are multiple screen options though and with a bit of trial and error, I found one setup which suited my eyes. Do I regret buying this item? Definitely no!! I'm sure there will be updates to come which can only improve this excellent piece of kit for Aviation Geeks 馃檪.

I live under the Heathrow approach and for years I have been gazing up trying to identify aircraft. Now the answer is on my desk. I still look up, then I look down to check.

Setup took about a minute. Plugged in, connected to WiFi, and it started showing planes. My husband spotted his old airline within a few minutes. Easy gift, no homework for me.

Bought it for my dad. Build quality is solid and he had it running the same evening. He still texts photos of random airliners like I am meant to know what they are.
