A small company
FlightAbove is made by a small team in the UK. We build the units people ask for. We do not run a factory line that turns out thousands of identical boxes.

Why the price moves
Sometimes, yes. We are a small company and we make each FlightAbove device to order. We do not buy components in the thousands and stockpile them. The price on the page is the cost of building one today, and that price moves when the parts do.
A computer board can cost us £10 one week and £45 the next. That is not a small jump, and we are at the mercy of what those parts cost right now.
Built to order
Mini, Altitude, Horizon and Connect are produced in the United Kingdom when you order them. There is no pallet of finished units waiting for the next sale, and no container of spare boards bought a year ago at last year's price.
FlightAbove is made by a small team in the UK. We build the units people ask for. We do not run a factory line that turns out thousands of identical boxes.
Screens, computer boards, cases and the rest are bought for the orders in front of us. We pay whatever those parts cost that week.
Cases for Mini, Altitude and Connect are 3D printed for that order. The way we build is on the quality page. The price follows the same idea: one unit, made now.

What the parts cost us
We are at the mercy of demand for the components. When a lot of people want the same computer board, the price of that board moves, sometimes by a wide margin. We cannot smooth that out by dipping into a stockpile of cheap parts, because we never bought them in the thousands.
A real swing
This is the part that has moved the most. One week we can buy the compute for about £10. The next week the same kind of board can be £45. That difference lands on the cost of the device we are about to build.
Those figures are what the board can cost us, not the price of a finished FlightAbove.
Why we pass it on
What you pay
If you looked last week and the number was lower, that was the cost of building one then. We do not keep a quieter price on the side, and we cannot rebuild your device from parts at last week's cost once those parts have moved.
Before you pay
Compare the models, then the basket shows the amount we charge today. We are not VAT registered, so we do not add UK VAT. The figure you see is the amount you pay us. Import duty or tax outside the United Kingdom is charged by your country, and it is separate.
After you pay
Once an order is confirmed, that price stays. A later change on the website does not rewrite it, up or down. If the parts get cheaper next month, that helps the next person who orders. It does not change an order we have already accepted.
Cloud is different
The £10 to £45 swing is about hardware. FlightAbove Cloud is a private link you open on a laptop, tablet or TV you already own, from £3.99 a month. We do not build a device for it, so it does not move every time a computer board does.
Mini, Altitude, Horizon and Connect. Paid once. The price can change between visits because the parts can change. The price you pay at checkout is locked for that order.
If the subscription price changes, we give at least 30 days' notice. You can cancel before the new price starts. Access runs to the end of the period you have already paid for.
The facts
Before you order
Sometimes, yes. The price on the site is what it costs to build a FlightAbove device today. If the parts were cheaper last week, last week's price was lower. If the parts cost more, the price is higher.
We are a small company and we build each device to order. We do not buy components in the thousands and stockpile them. We pay the current market price for the boards, screens and other parts, and the device price follows that.
No. We do not place orders for thousands of components to sit on a shelf. We buy what we need to build the devices people have ordered, at the price those parts cost at the time.
A lot. The computer board is the clearest example. One week that board can cost us £10. The next week the same kind of board can cost £45. That is not a small jump, and it changes what it costs us to build your device.
No. Last week's price was for last week's parts. We build your device from parts we can buy now, so the price at checkout is the one that applies.
A confirmed order keeps the price you paid. A later change on the website does not change an order we have already accepted.
No. Cloud is a subscription for a screen you already own, from £3.99 a month. We do not build a device for it. If the Cloud price changes, we give at least 30 days' notice, and you can cancel before the new price starts.
We are a UK company and we are not VAT registered, so we do not add UK VAT. The price on the page is the amount you pay us. If we ship outside the United Kingdom, your country may charge import duty or tax on delivery. Those fees are separate.
A warehouse of parts only works if you buy them in large volume and freeze the design. We are small, we build to order in the UK, and we would rather use the parts available now than sit on a thousand of an older one. The trade-off is that the price can move.
