This "FlightAbove Mini" is very good. Rather than have to look up a well known flight tracker app on my Mobile Phone every time, this sits beside my chair and is on 12 hours a day. I got stuck with the initial setup but Customer Service were excellent and understanding. They gave me all the help I needed. At 4 inches the screen is small making some text hard to read. There are multiple screen options though and with a bit of trial and error, I found one setup which suited my eyes. Do I regret buying this item? Definitely no!! I'm sure there will be updates to come which can only improve this excellent piece of kit for Aviation Geeks 🙂.

What is FlightAbove?

How does it work?
Plug it in, join WiFi, and it reads live aircraft that are already sharing their position. You set your location and how far to look once. Most people are watching the sky in about a minute.
How is this different from an LED flight wall?
A typical LED flight wall is a grid of dots that lists flights. FlightAbove is a colour screen: a photograph, a live map, a clock, and the board look when you want it. You set it on the screen or in a browser.
Which display should I choose?
Altitude is the 5 inch round one most people choose, and it can play a sound. Mini is the 4 inch square, and it stays quiet. Horizon is the 7 inch widescreen, with Horizon View. Connect is the lowest one-time price if you already have a TV. Cloud is $5.07 a month in a browser.
Is there a subscription?
Mini, Altitude, Horizon and Connect are paid once. Live aircraft, the looks and updates are included. Cloud is the subscription, for a screen you already use.
Where does aircraft detection work?
Wherever aircraft overhead are sharing their position. That is most places worldwide, and it is fullest over Europe and North America. You do not add a receiver at home. The window can follow aircraft out to 250 km. Produced in the United Kingdom is where the hardware is made.
What WiFi does it need?
A 2.4 GHz network. Most home and office WiFi works. Setup is a browser on the phone or laptop you already have.
